| Mr. Russell L. Brown has been a
business broker and consultant for over 25 years and has been directly
or indirectly involved in all aspects of the buying, selling, brokering,
and valuing of hundreds of existing companies. He is widely sought
as an expert consultant and lecturer on the topic of buying, selling,
and valuing businesses.
Mr. Brown offers business valuation and appraisal consulting
services through his firm, RDS Associates, Inc., as well as writing
business-oriented books, articles and software, and lecturing
on topics related to the buying, selling, and valuing of businesses.
He specializes in providing business valuation and appraisal services
for individual small to mid-sized companies considering the purchase
or sale of a business (typically from $100,000 in sales up to
$5 million). Mr. Brown has authored two related books, Strategies
for Successfully Buying or Selling a Business, and,
Preparing Your Business For Sale,
as well as numerous published articles and reports. He is also
the author of the "BizPricer
Business Valuation Software" written for business
buyers and sellers.
Mr. Browns education includes a Masters Degree in
Business Administration (MBA) and a Bachelor of Science Degree
in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) from the University of Massachusetts.
Other education includes management and financial course work
at Yale University, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology,
and the Brookings Institute in Washington, DC. Mr. Brown is a
member in good standing with The Institute of Business Appraisers,
Plantation, Florida.
Mr. Browns broad-based professional experience, in addition
to his business writing, includes extensive business management
consulting tasks, corporate and federal government management
assignments, business brokerage and valuation/appraisal, manufacturing
business ownership, and commercial real estate development and
management. He is also the co-founder of various non-profit organizations
such as Technology for Connecticut, Inc. and the Small Business
Administrations Defense Economic Transition Assistance Center.
These organizations were formed to assist economic development
initiatives in Connecticut.
Awards and recognition received by Mr. Brown include the Best
Business Book of the Year Award from the North American Bookdealers
Exchange (NABE), the Excellence in Web Site Marketing Award from
the Connecticut Better Business Bureau, a patent from the U.S.
Patent Office, a Superior Civilian Service Award Medal from the
Department of the Navy for management expertise (the second highest
civilian award) and a Congressional Citation from the U.S. Congress
in acknowledgment of his extensive economic development and community
improvement efforts.
